Feldon is currently working with TidalStream Ltd, supporting scale prototype development and testing of their innovative ‘Triton’ tidal energy support platform.

This is the most powerful tidal current energy generator now in development with the potential for 10MW from a single installation. It can be floated out for installation and provides safe and stable access and maintenance.

Successful testing of a six-rotor scale prototype has been carried out by Feldon at the Ifremer Test Centre, France.

The test model was power generating (synchronised with the grid) and replicated all the key features and attributes of the concept.

Feldon have also developed a cost model for assessing the value of tidal stream sites and different technologies. This includes algorithms for the capital costs of the hardware and installation, operating costs including inspection, maintenance and repair, site energy capture and the resulting CAPEX, OPEX and CoE.
